Topics covered:        

  • GIP is a potent incretin hormone in animals.

  • GIP knockout mice are protected from weight gain.

  • In acute high dose GIP experiments- there is little effect in Type 2 diabetes in humans with regards to glucose lowering

  • GIP resistance in Type 2 in clamp studies

  • Mice, dogs and humans may all be different.

  • Higher affinity agonists with slower elimination PK are now available.
