Olivia Holland

Dr Olivia Holland is a Research Fellow in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences based at Griffith University’s Gold Coast Campus and the leader of Griffith University’s Pregnancy Research Group. Dr Holland is a reproductive biologist whose research focuses on health and complications during pregnancy, in particular gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. Dr Holland discovered how the response of the placenta to stress can provide powerful insights into the severity of important pregnancy complications, and her team research placental function, novel ways to monitor pregnancy health, and the effects of perturbations during pregnancy on ongoing health. Her research aims to improve health both during pregnancy and beyond through earlier prediction of complications’ risk and by preventing the intergenerational transmission of disease risk.
