Patrick Thomsen
Seuta’afili Dr Patrick Thomsen (he/they) - Vaimoso/Vaigaga, is a Senior Lecturer in Global Studies at the University of Auckland, and Principal Investigator for The Manalagi Project, Aotearoa-New Zealand’s first Pacific Rainbow national health and wellbeing project funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand. His work centres on queer transnationalisms, with a focus on Pacific queer lives and exploring Pacific queer kinship and wellbeing. He received his PhD from The University of Washington - Seattle and is the Queer and LGBT+ Studies Collection Editor for Lived Places Publishing based in New York. Dr Thomsen is currently a Board Member for F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust, Aotearoa-New Zealand’s only Pacific Rainbow+ service organisation, an academic advisor board member for the North Asia Centre for Asia Pacific Excellence, ethics committee member for the National Inquiry into Bias in Policing, and a research committee member for He Whenua Taurikura – National Centre for Research Excellence on Preventing Extreme Violence.
