Joon Ho Moon
Joon Ho Moon, M.D., Ph.D., is currently an assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. His research primarily focuses on several areas, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes mellitus, pancreatic beta cell function, adipose tissue, sarcopenia, and fatty liver disease.
Dr. Moon received his M.D. degree from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 2011 and subsequently pursued further education and research in the medical field. He obtained an M.Sc. in Internal Medicine from the same institution, where he conducted research on sarcopenia as a potential predictor for mortality and cognitive impairment in elderly Koreans. For his Ph.D., he completed his studies in Medical Science at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), investigating the role of serotonin in regulating the mass and function of pancreatic beta cells during the maternal-perinatal period.
Dr. Moon's valuable contributions have been recognized through his publications in esteemed scientific journals, including Science Translational Medicine, Diabetes, and the Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia, and Muscle, and others. In addition, he has actively participated as a reviewer for various journals, such as the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, and was acknowledged as a best reviewer for the Diabetes & Metabolism Journal. Furthermore, he has received awards for his contributions to the medical field from organizations including the Korean Medical Association, Seoul Medical Association, Korean Diabetes Association, and Korean Endocrine Society, and others.
